Your tutor (Martin Piercy)

Painting Holidays in France

Why choose me as your art tutor? First a lot will comes down to if France and the area is a place you would like to visit. But if you are reading this it is safe to say you could be interested in joining us and would like to know what you could achieve as a beginner or experienced painter wishing to strengthen in a particular area of your painting.

I would say my strengths lay in the fact that for the majority of my life, I am now 60+, I was self taught and made all the mistakes and had all the struggles the people I now teach are facing. But, probably, my biggest strength is that I am very passionate about all forms and styles of painting and drawing - from classic to abstract, watercolour to oil and portraits to flowers - So you don't have to stick to one form of painting or drawing ... find, try and learn what you want to know and not what the tutor wants you to learn!

I got into painting for a living late in life but having made that move I have gone on to managing a gallery, owning my own gallery and selling my paintings to many parts of the world. I have also spent many years running art classes, one to one tuition, and life figure drawing classes in acrylic painting, watercolour, oil, pencil and charcoal drawing.

But apart from my painting career I have always been involved in arty things. I have had a passion for photography from a young age, very useful for learning about composition and developing an artistic eye to see things others may miss. I worked as a sign writer and graphic sign painter and ran my own screen printing and screen making workshop ... add a life long interest in painting and I have a great deal of knowledge that is all relevant in different forms of art.

And when your week is over and the tan has started to fade I am still available for free online support and help with future work.

I hope to meet you soon!
